Jenn Tran had plenty of eligible bachelors who could’ve earned her first impression rose.
During the Bachelorette season 21 premiere July 8, the leading lady was greeted with 25 memorable meet-cutes from her potential suitors, including one that took her completely by surprise.
“Obviously they all saw my announcement, I said I wanted someone with a big, big personality,” she explained to Francesca Amiker in an exclusive E! News interview. “Someone came in with a really nice car, and he started talking to me and he said, ‘You know I know you wanted someone with a big’—and I thought he was going to say personality, but instead he said ‘penis’ and I was like ‘what is going on. I just met you two seconds ago.’ So that definitely caught me way off guard.”
And while Jenn’s season is off to a jaw-dropping start for her, premiere is far from the only episode this season that will raise eyebrows. In fact, the 26-year-old also teased what is in store for the coming episodes.
“It's definitely a shocker of an ending,” she admitted to E! News. “It was a shocker to myself as well. You know, it's not how I saw the journey ending when I first started it. So I'm really excited for everyone to watch that back.”
Coming on the heels of Charity Lawson and Joey Graziadei’s respective journeys in the Bachelor Nation spotlight, Jenn admitted that she was a “little nervous” to meet her group of bachelors. But it was more important to her to act as a trailblazer as the first Asian American Bachelorette.
And she credited season 18 Bachelorette Michelle Young for offering her a few words of wisdom on the endeavor.
“We’re both in the same mindset in which we want to keep making change happen,” Jenn recalled. “If we’re the people spearheading that then all the better. She was like, ‘You know what you’re doing for a reason’ and just be strong-willed and strong-headed.”
Despite the surprises in store for her season, the physician associate is at peace with it all.
“I think that the way the story played out is exactly the way it needed to play out,” she added. “I'm definitely happy with the outcome of the season.”
The Bachelorette premieres Monday, July 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and is available to stream next day on Hulu.
